We need to talk about Cardiff...

Summer 2019, it's when coconut fever arrives in the Welsh capital. Yes Cardiff! We have arrived with all of our Sri Lankan flair, street food, cocotails but most importantly the best no-fuss, tapas-style food. From hereon there shall forever be a Coconut Tree in Mill Lane, Cardiff.

So why Cardiff? Well, we search high and low for amazing cities when we want to plant our coconuts. This amazing capital had been on our radar for a while. When National Geographic ranked a UK city in sixth place as an alternative tourist destination, we’re simply all ears. So here we are coconuts at the ready to set up camp.

What's not to love about this city? Cardiff Bay has to be our absolute favourite spot. We adore the marina and the buzzy atmosphere of shops along it. For a little history you can't beat the city's magnificent castle which is aptly named Cardiff Castle. 2000 years of history awaits to be discovered amidst an enchanting natural setting. We think everyone needs a guided tour of it. Then there is Cardiff Market which has been trading from St. Mary's Street since the 1700s. You can find anything from up-cycled furniture, artisan coffee and fresh flowers in the market; a day easily spent. For a touch of excitement we say head straight to the National Museum of Cardiff. Dinosaurs and woolly mammoths wait alongside Monet and Renoir to delight you. So you see, when it came to choosing where to plant the next coconut Cardiff was an easy choice.

Whether after a long day of sight-seeing, shopping or simply doing your chores at home come along to The Coconut Tree, Cardiff. Sit around our friendly tables, order you and yours a cocktail for five, namely our Ruby's Mum cocotail. There are lots of good things in it such as Ceylon Arrack, Coconut Rum, passion fruit and guava. It's a fantastic introduction to all things Sri Lanka. Once you've settled in to your seats let our kitchen wow you with a feast of Sri Lankan street food as they come from the kitchen. No formal courses, no fuss, just great food. We can't wait to greet you!

Bringing us all things Sri Lanka, straight from the elephant's mouth, is travel blogger and all-round island girl Demi Perera. Demi is the creator and editor of her own popular e-zine Girl Travels World. In her spare time she loves to recline on her hammock under a coconut tree. What we have here is a match made in heaven... πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
